Jessie Smith - Landing in the Present Moment

Sometimes, our lives change gradually. At other times, they can take a 180 within seconds.

For Jessie, that life-altering moment came in the form of a car accident, which resulted in a Traumatic Brain Injury.  This is something she has now lived with for nearly a decade.

Learning to navigate life with an invisible and often misunderstood injury is far from easy. Yet Jessie is grateful she discovered a resilience practice in the form of mindfulness to help her get through.

“Without mindfulness, we’re lost in thought. We’re worried about the future, or we’re regretting the past,” explains Jessie. By engaging with our world mindfully, we can experience the “goodness of the gathered mind” today and help build our resilience for when we may need it tomorrow.

In this episode, you’ll hear about some of the invaluable gifts this practice has given Jessie, how she was able to put her practice to the test amid a storm of further adversity, and why she is so passionate about teaching it to others.  Having trained as a qualified mindfulness teacher through the Center for Mindfulness at the University of California, San Diego Jessie continues to build on her personal mindfulness practice as a critical ingredient in her resilience skill set.
